The opening in
the floor reveals a winding stairwell that descends into the
foundations beneath The Asylum. The original maps and
blueprints indicate that there are a couple of spare rooms in
addition to the furnace and boiler in the sub-basement. There
is no mention of a stairwell such as this one.
